Hi Laura, This error message tend to indicate a security issue with the SQL server side.. not in GP. Have you compared what the user's permissions are in GP _and_ on the SQL server side vs. other users that do get the error message ? if 'sa' can't get it work properly, than this sounds like a problem with the list itself.. How was it created ? did you use Navigation List builder from eOne ? has the builder series been updated properly ? how about the source of the data ? is it a view ? or simply table lookups with linked data ? And last but not least, did you try to run a DEX / SQL Trace in GP ?
