I was hoping to see a response to earlier posts. I feel as though we're always left in a state of uncertainty. "Other major enhancements will not be made to Management Reporter for Dynamics GP" ... This sound's ominous, not just concerning Management Reporter but concerning GP. Note that this is specific about discontinued major development related to "Dynamics GP". Does this imply that major improvements will be done for the other Dynamics products but not GP? One another note, I was tracking down a bug recently and found that it has been out there for years in the MMR report viewer. When I asked why it hasn't been addressed, I was advised by someone in Microsoft that a decision was made some time ago that there would be no further developments of the report viewer as the only thing they're focusing on now is the web viewer. Of course I find this out in a troubleshooting situation. I often find that generating printed output that parallels what we could expect from FRX can at times be an acrobatic feat. Add to it that Management Reporter is slower than FRX, can break without warning, is apparently not being fully maintained, and can sometimes produce inaccurate figures and I find myself yearning for a return to FRX. Also, printed output is still desirable in many situations and consistent formatting of output continues to plague this product. Microsoft should have continued to support FRX rather than engage half-heartedly in the development and maintenance of a new product. It's really too bad. I'd like to see this product thrive. And don't even get me started about Microsoft's decision to drop Forecaster without a suitable in-family replacement. Financial reporting has always been a strength for GP and they are undermining it. Sometimes I wonder if they've lost their mind or if this is "de-feathering the nest" so as to nudge people out of GP. It's really heart breaking. I go to conferences and see all kinds of UI sizzle and cloud hype while important features are gutted. I guess I'm frustrated because I love GP. It has been a great product supported and developed by great people. It's like watching the self-inflicted decline of someone you love. If Microsoft played its cards right, they'd have an application that would be environmentally agile (cloud / premise / hybrid). This would beat the Netsuites of the world but it seems that their grand aspiration is to become the equivalent of Netsuite. You can always tell when marketing people are in charge. it's always about hype over substance and "new" always trumps "refined".
