Forum Post: Best way for a Medicare tax adjustment?

Employees were paid a duplicate overtime paycheck. A file was uploaded to the bank for a 2nd time in error. The employee is repaying the company either from a debit to their bank account or withholding from the next overtime check. Medicare tax needs to be reported for the amount withheld from their next overtime check if they chose to have it withheld. What is the best way to record the Medicare tax? If I record a manual adjustment to the paycode for the amount the employee should have been paid then how is the deduction processed/recorded for the Medicare tax (Social Security exempt). The company expense also needs to be posted so the payments/reports for Medicare tax liabilities are properly stated. Thank you! Rita
