The Vasa was a Swedish warship built between 1626 and 1628. The ship foundered and sank after sailing about 1,300 metres (1,400 yards) into her maiden voyage on 10 th August 1628. There are a number of lessons that can be learnt from the design, building and testing phases of the ship building process that could be applied to today’s software development world. This is the topic of Pete Cheslock’s lightning talk at Monitorama PDX 2014: Monitorama PDX 2014 – Lightning Talk – Pete Cheslock ( direct link ) For more information on the ship and its history go to Vasa Museum or Wikipedia .
