Hi, If you want your codes to include both uppercase and lowercase letters, you need to change the properties of the Format assigned to the data type that is assigned to the field. You can do this in Modifier. The database field is not the limiting factor, it'll take any string you want to pump in. If you go directly to the table and type in all lowercase, it will display in the GP window just as it does in SQL - all lowercase. To accomplish this with Modifier, modify the window containing the field you want to change. Select the field on the window and look at the Properties Window and double click on the DataType line. When the Data Type Definition window opens, look to the lower third of the window for the label Format. Click the ellipses button next to the format and the Format Definition window will open. Inside the Format is where you can indicate that you do not want to be restricted to uppercase characters. Here's what it looks like in Modifier: It's probably too small to see, but if you open Modifier you'll see it. Now, there are gobs more to this. Here's a peek, other data types use the same format. So changing the format will change it for all data types. You may be better off creating a new format. Also multiple fields can use the same datatype. So, if you change the format attached to the datatype you would change all of the fields that use that datatype. Go forward slowly, but I think you can get to where you want to be. Changes to, or new formats or datatypes are NOT exported with the package file, so carefully document what you do in the event you need to replicate it. Kind regards, Leslie
