Yep the web client will work. Consider your security with your firewall as well. Think about limiting access to the GP Webhost server to the external IP of the remote company's external IP address for added security. Be aware that IIS self signed certificates last for 12 months, and these need to be available on the remote client machines. Make sure your DNS configuration is correct. Single Configuration is less of an issue to the scale out configuration but this will depend on the number of concurrent users connecting and the performance they require.
