I believe Report Writer only displays the first ... I forget how many characters. In any case, there is a built in Report Writer function you can use to parse the item description into sections. For example, you can parse the first set of 40 characters, then the second set, then the third, using three separate calculated fields (one for each set). Then, just pull each of those three calculated fields onto your report.
