I work for a company which has a parent & subsidiary structure. They use Multi Entity Management by Binary Stream to have all of the major companies housed within the same database and accessible by a single login on GP. One of the subsidiaries owns some of its own companies and has opted to place those in separate databases accessible by a separate login to GP. Which system is ideal? One advantage I have seen to separate databases is a reduction in complexity. MEM makes things complicated, especially when attempting to integrate additional third party modules like EDI. One advantage I have seen to a single database with MEM is less complexity in reporting. It can be easier to develop queries from a single database, especially when using SSRS.
